Troy Fedderson rang the lunch bell and presided at today’s meeting in absence of Geoff Zimmerman. 
Jay Lifson was the greeter, gave us a thought for the day, and then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.. 
Visiting Rotarian: Terry Cole from Twain Harte is returning to area and may join us.
Guests of Rotarians: Dr. Chuck Clemons from the Children’s Sexual Abuse Center along with Jonathan Mwansa from the University of Zambia raising awareness for abused children.

John Sherry’s dog was near death, but was saved thanks to his wife who performed CPR.

Chuck gave thanks to John’s wife.

Larry Blodgett’s son transferred from UC-Davis to St. Mary’s College.

Alan Mac is thankful to have a few houses in escrow and is still waiting for his remote control Tesla.

Jay Lifson’s three month old grandson can say “Hello”.

Supervisor Gayle Uilkema. She represents District 2, a diverse mix of 17 communities including Hercules, Martinez, Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda.

Gayle spoke about the financial condition of Contra Costa County. There is a deficit and a need for funding especially for the county hospitals. There are many factors that have contributed to the financial condition of the county including deferred payments from the state, pensions, and the obvious; expenditures exceeding revenue.  She also mentioned the unemployment rate in Crockett was a staggering 25%.

John Sherry won a $2 bill only to be beaten by Troy Fedderson who won $5. Remember: Save the greenbacks!

A new approach to Rotary 

Katie Ischkin, president and founder of the Rotary Club of South Metro Minneapolis Evenings, Minnesota, USA, believes in a new approach to Rotary.
Her Rotary club, chartered in June, has already grown to 25 members, including 12 new Rotarians who were recruited in a three-month period. The club has signed up for its first Matching Grant and international service project and has participated in more than 10 community service or hands-on volunteer efforts.
