Official Weekly Bulletin of the Rotary Club of Lafayette, CA
July 22, 2010 | VOL 65 | ISSUE 4

President Geoff Zimmerman, presided
Greeter: Daniel Barnes

Visiting Rotarians:
Ron Light –Concord was the only visiting Rotarian.
Lynn Zimmerman, Cal and Cathy Robie, George Fagini, Joe Testa [guest speaker] and Peggy Lickert. Peggy is planning to become a member.

Mo Levich spoke about the August 5th Jazz Camp at Stanley School and encouraged us all to arrive before 11:00 for a tour prior to our lunch. He has sent details via email.

Bob Shusta asked for a family to host a female Exchange Student from Bolivia for three months [April, May and June, 2011]. Please refer to the emails on this.

Larry Slagg, CC County Food Bank with receive our donation next week.

Mike Henn presented a $350.00 check we received for the Rotarians that worked at the recent election poles and suggested that we use the funds to sponsor a tent at the EAST BAY STANDOWN. Bill Eames suggested we past a hat to get the additional money for the $500.00 needed.

Andy Scheck past his citizen test with a 100%. He sounded a little disappointed as there were only 10 questions – not 100!

Happy $$$ were given by Don Anderson the Greeter Thursday for receiving the reminder.

Polly Bernson was happy as Diablo Rapid Print appeared first in a Google search for book publishers plus they may be publishing a book for new client.

Many happy dollars were given for Andy’s progress to citizenship and we look forward to his becoming a most welcome citizen.

FIRE was the subject of speaker Joe Testa [Geoff’s brother-in-law and ski slope nemesis, goader, etc.] and what techniques are employed when fighting them. Geoff’s prior email provided an overview of Joe’s history and subject.

If calling 911 a land line is better than cell phone as geographic location is known. Cell phone users should call fire department directly, if possible.
