PRESENTATION:   The “Big-Ass Check” for $500 was presented to Jeff Behring for the Rotary Wheel Chair Foundation Project
    Mike heller:    Seeking more volunteers from the club to help the morning of the “Lafayette Reservoir Run”  on October 30th for the Pancake Breakfast starting from 6:00am or 6:30am.  Sign up sheet was passed around the room.
    John Sherry:    “Rotary Day at the Races” on Saturday, November 19th at Golden Gate Fields.  Only (12) spaces are available so he encouraged those who would like to attend to sign up as soon as possible.
    John Sherry:    Terry Ring has been busily working on the construction of the permanent stage at the Lafayette Reservoir with the layout completed and the piers are drilled and poured on this Friday.  He encouraged those who made money pledges towards the stage to please get their money into the club as the stage has not yet been fully funded.
    Troy Fedderson/Maurice Williams:    Last Thursday’s (Oct. 13th)  was “Rotary Night” at Town Hall Theatre.   Was a sold out show and was a great time with fellow Rotarians.

•Visited the site of the stage today
•District Conference was good, next year will be better – in Napa , 11/2 -11/4/12.  five vendors that worked this year’s conference went home and became Rotarians
•District has 71 Clubs
•Unless you have a chance to participate in a district or international project, it is hard to understand how important the work of Rotary is.
•His wife Terra has a cause he is supporting – Shaken Baby Syndrome – For a cost of $363 a club can buy the SBS doll and DVD that explains how it works.  By showing this example to Yolo County , SBS has gone down 80% in the last five years
•Gave a number of other examples in which Rotary is making a difference
•We Serve Mankind
•We need to get out in the community and tell them about what Rotary does  RAVE about it.
 Raffle:    $25 was in the pot.

If your Rotary club is stuck in a rut when it comes to vocational service, it's not alone.
Sometimes dubbed the "forgotten Avenue of Service," vocational service can be difficult for clubs to understand and implement.
Nijad K. Al Atassi, past governor of District 2450 (parts of Africa, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Georgia) felt strongly enough about vocational service to make it a districtwide priority.

"Vocational service is important because it enhances values and faith in ethics," says Al Atassi, a member of the Rotary Club of Adliya, Bahrain.
