A contribution was made to the Marine's Semper Fi club. There is a luncheon in Vacaville.

Mike Heller had a great get together at his new home. More than a dozen club members attended.
Rock the Plaza had a good showing and there are two good friday's remaining

Octavio (Chero) Chavez visited with his wife Anna and son Victor. Our club was recognized for the purchase of the fire engine truck for Ville de Guadalupe (located 17mi south of Ensenada) which the club made in 2003?. Chero explained that the community of Guadalupe has grown strongly in the last decade and they really appreciate the firetruck and would love to get a back up truck in future years. The would also like to stockpile spare parts which they get from Victorville.

The wine Tour has two more openings for $285 a couple.

Anniversaries are among us!
Troy Fedderson celebrated his 20th Anniversary!
Bob Shusta his 51st!
4th anniversary for Alicia!
Maurice was recognized for 28 years of marraige and for rockin the plaza!

Jay has tickets for ZZ top, J. Cocker and Huey Lewis and the News at the Concord Pavillion.
Chuck has tickets with a parking pass for Cal football games and they will be auctioned next week for Sept 8th and 9th?.

Our speaker, Candace Andersen was sworn in on June 26 for her first term as District 2 County Board of Supervisors.
Candace served as Mayor of Danville for two terms. She also served on the Morgan Hill council in the early 90s. She is an attorney licensed in Hawaii and California. She raised six children.
Candace has retained almost all of Gayle's staff. Her assistant Laurie heads the Lafayette office and it is open for appointments on Monday and Thursdays. Laurie was with Gayle Ulkima for 14 years.

The county board of supervisors has a 1.1 million budget and it oversees the unincorporated areas for land use, capital improvements, etc. The BoS is also a resource to city councils.

Supervisor Anderson explained the issue at hand including the CC Firefighters budget shortfualls (12MM on budget of 100MM.) She see's a misalignment of resources as 70% of Firefighter calls are medical, and only 5% are for fires. The model isn't working. A parcel tax wouldn't cover the difference. 3% at 50 doesn't work. Need to use more realistic return expectations for pension funds.

The club asked several questions related to pension reform. Supervisor Anderson seemed uncommonly well informed, and articulated thoughtfully many of the issues behind the questions and the dilemma's at hand.
