Mary Lou Till, Samuel Clemens, and The Unsinkable Molly Brown grew up in Hannibal, Mo., with mid-western values of honesty and hard work as guideposts. In high school, she moved to Naples, FL., and learned there were different cultures beyond the Mississippi River. In 1978, she relocated to Lafayette, CA and joined the real estate community as a broker, in both the sales and financing sectors, and owned and operated an aviation facility, while acquiring her pilot’s license and raising three children. Today, her repertoire includes being an active church member, a bell choir participant, and Lafayette Rotary Club, where she is Club President, and formerly served as Membership Director.
Norma Evans moved to Lafayette 30 years ago via San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Morocco, England, Switzerland, France and Oakland. I’m addicted to volunteering for my community, including Happy Valley School (Parent’s Club President), Stanley Middle School (Measure B Bond Issue Co-Chair) and Acalanes High School (Class Liaison and Sue Stauffer award winner), Lafayette Chamber (Ambassador) and Lafayette Rotary Club (Past President). I was recognized as Lafayette Citizen of the Year in 2000 for my community volunteer service. My husband Bob and I have been together for 45 years. We have one grown son, Nick. Love Lafayette!
Kurt Teichmann left his Scarsdale, NY home to get his MBA at Stanford. He worked at the Crocker National Bank for 13 years and then at small banks. He reached his peak as EVP and Chief Loan Officer of John Muir National Bank in Martinez. He is now retired. He has been a member of Lions Clubs for 20 years and a member of Rotary for 10+ years. Presently, he is secretary of Lafayette Rotary Club and a volunteer at White Pony Express. For a hobby, he tries to play duplicate bridge once or twice a week.
Tom is a CPA with his own practice in Concord, CA.
My 25 year career in development for non-profit organizations allowed me the ability to contribute to the club’s first Gala and Charity Auction. The Rotary Club of Lafayette has been a rewarding experience.
My wife, two young boys and I relocated from PA in 1965. I joined a Berkeley company which specialized in electron beam technology – the predecessor to semiconductors. Our initial stay at the Hillside apartments had a helipad next door – a commuter flight into San Francisco. Lafayette wasn’t even a city then and had only one traffic light!
Kimberly grew up in Contra Costa County, and has a degree from UC Berkeley (Go Bears!). Kimberly currently works at Republic Services, managing trash, recycle and organics programs for Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga and surrounding cities. She enjoys talkin’ trash, hiking, and serving the community through Rotary.

A California registered Architect, Larry has served on the Boards of Directors of the Lafayette Community Foundation, Boy Scout Troop 224, Inc., Lafayette Senior Housing Associates and the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce; Larry has also served on the City of Lafayette’s Design Review Commission, Banner Advisory Committee and the Downtown Congestion Survey. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Lafayette for 20 years and served as Club President in the 2017-18 Rotary Year.
Recently retired, Branch Manager for Bank of the West. In banking since 1978. Founded California Bank of Commerce. Has served on the Boards of Directors of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, National Charity League, Church of Santa Maria, Lafayette Art & Wine Festival, PTA.

Peter de Laveaga has over thirty years of experience in the tax and financial fields. He has been the managing partner of Parodi & de Laveaga, his tax and accounting firm, for twenty years. Peter also has worked for Ernst & Young for twenty-five years. After five years of full-time work for EY and then starting his own company, he has continued to work part-time for EY delivering financial planning workshops to client employees. Prior to his accounting career, Peter worked in retail banking for seven years. He has a BA Degree in Economics and a MBA Degree in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley and is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Peter has served on the board of his church, Berkeley Covenant Church, for the past thirty years off-and-on in numerous capacities. Along with several colleagues, Peter co-founded Mayan Partners ten years ago, a non-profit organization that serves and partners with the indigenous communities in the highlands of western Guatemala.
Nancy Hobbs worked in the telecommunications industry for over 30 years. She began her career as a first level supervisor for Pacific Bell. Over the next 26 years she worked in multiple disciplines, including installation and repair, network, product marketing and sales as well as holding various staff positions.
Over the course of this time she advanced through the organization to the level of Assistant Vice President. In 1994 she left Pacific Bell and went to work for AirTouch as the General Manager for the San Diego area. She worked for Airtouch for 6 years, advancing to the position of EVP/GM of the California area. She has a BA in English from USF and has served on the board of Wedbush Morgan Securities.
Andrew Parrott has worked in the financial services industry since 2001. He has worked as a trader, analyst and consultant for firms including JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Barclays Capital. Following a move to California from London in 2015 with his family, he now serves the Lafayette community as a financial advisor with the firm Edward Jones. He is a CFA charterholder and has a Masters degree in Finance from the London School of Economics.
Kurt Rasmussen had a 36-year career with Verizon and it’s predecessor companies. He retired as Vice-President of Government Relations with responsibility for the states of California, Arizona, and Nevada. Kurt has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Sacramento, the United Way of Ventura County, the Nevada Telecommunications Association (NTA), and the California Telecommunications Association. He is a 2 time past president of the NTA. Kurt holds a Bachelors Degree in Corporate Finance and a Masters Degree in Corporate Management. He is currently retired.
Marie Ward worked in various nursing capacities for over 40 years prior to retiring four years ago including working at Kaiser Walnut Creek as a Wound Ostomy Specialist.
Marie is a graduate of College Misercordia in Pennsylvania, has a Masters in Nursing from University of Pennsylvania and a certificate in Wound and Ostomy and continence from Stanford University.
Currently Marie spends her time taking care of her grandchild (Andrew), volunteering with multiple organizations (Rotary, Friendly Manor, Rotacare, etc.) and spending time with her husband and three adult children who all live and work in Contra Costa County.
